Allez Allez

Allez Allez is a Belgian funk band that was formed in 1981. The group emerged from the remnants of the band Marine, which lost its lead singer Marc Marine while preparing for a Peel session in London. Sarah Osborne, formerly of Repetition, joined the band, and they changed their name to Allez Allez. During their active years, they achieved local success with hits like "She's Stirring Up," "Allez Allez," and "African Queen," the latter being a tribute to Grace Jones. Their mini-album *African Queen* reached gold status, and they appeared at the Torhout-Werchter festival in 1982. After signing with Virgin Records, they released the album *Promises* in 1982, but mainstream success eluded them.

The band disbanded in 1985 but reformed briefly in 2017 for several concerts, featuring a new lineup that included Kyoko Bartsoen and Marie on vocals. During this time, their bassist, Marka, published a memoir about his experiences with the band. Marka is also notable for being the father of acclaimed Belgian singers Angèle and Roméo Elvis. Despite their short-lived career, Allez Allez remains a notable figure in Belgian funk history.
