George Antheil (1900–1959) was an American composer and pianist known for his bold, avant-garde approach to music. Often called the "bad boy of music," he pushed the boundaries of classical composition with works that embraced mechanical rhythms and dissonance. His most famous piece, *Ballet Mécanique* (1924), was originally written for synchronized player pianos and percussion, reflecting his fascination with machines and modern technology. Beyond concert music, Antheil also composed film scores and worked as an inventor; he even co-patented an early version of frequency-hopping technology with actress Hedy Lamarr. His adventurous spirit and innovative style helped shape 20th-century American music.
