Vijay Venkatesh

Vijay Venkatesh is an acclaimed Indian-American pianist known for his dazzling technique and poetic musicality. A native of California, he has earned degrees from the Colburn School, USC Thornton School of Music, and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, studying with renowned teachers like Fabio Bidini, Norman Krieger, and André Watts. He has won top prizes in prestigious competitions such as San Jose, Seattle, and the World Piano competitions and has been praised for his "effortless technical command combined with poetry and refinement" by the Herald-Tribune. Vijay has performed extensively as a soloist with orchestras across the U.S. and Europe, including the Seattle Symphony and Vienna Symphony, and is active as a chamber musician, notably touring with his wife in the Vieness Piano Duo and playing in the award-winning Aristeia Trio.

Venkatesh is also recognized for his thoughtful and inspired interpretations of classical repertoire, especially his recent recordings for Naxos of Mozart's lesser-known keyboard works, including fragments and rarities that reveal a more intimate side of the composer.
