Syzygy Ensemble

Syzygy Ensemble is a renowned Australian chamber music group, particularly known for its virtuosic precision and innovative programming. Formed in late 2009, they quickly established themselves as one of Australia's finest new music ensembles. They were awarded first prize in the chamber music section of the Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition in 2010 and were selected to compete in the Gaudeamus International Interpreter’s Award in Amsterdam the following year. Syzygy Ensemble is committed to performing both heritage works from the last century and the newest compositions, including over 50 premieres of new Australian works. They have also appeared at various festivals such as the Melbourne Festival, Melbourne Music Week, and the Mildura Arts Festival.

The ensemble has a strong reputation for engaging performances, which have included critically acclaimed interpretations of works like Schoenberg’s "Pierrot Lunaire" and Messiaen’s "Quartet for the End of Time." Their collaborations and touring activities have extended to regional Victoria, allowing them to reach diverse audiences with contemporary masterworks. Their debut CD, "Making Signs," was released to critical acclaim in 2015.
