György Gyivicsán is a renowned Hungarian trombonist known for his versatility and talent in classical music. He graduated from the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Music in 2001 and continued his studies under the guidance of Branimir Slokar in Freiburg. Gyivicsán won the prestigious international competition in Porcia, Italy, in 2003, which marked a significant milestone in his career. He became a perpetual member of the Slokar Quartet in 2004 and has since performed extensively worldwide. Gyivicsán also holds a soloist diploma from Bern University, earned in 2005. He has been a professor at the University of Szeged and later at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, where he obtained a DLA (Doctor of Liberal Arts) in 2013. He is also the founder and leading trombonist of the Szeged Trombone Ensemble.
Gyivicsán has been involved in numerous international performances and masterclasses across countries like Portugal, Italy, Austria, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, South Korea, Slovenia, and the US. He has contributed to several recordings with the Szeged Trombone Ensemble, which has released albums such as *SETREN*, *Experiment*, *Special*, *Overtonality*, and *Wind Tunnels*. His work showcases his dedication to chamber music and his ability to perform a wide range of repertoire. Gyivicsán is recognized for his high level of performance and elegant stage presence, which has captivated audiences globally.
