Brett Garsed

Brett Garsed is an Australian guitarist known for his fluid and melodic playing style, often injecting his work with elements of rock, jazz, and fusion. Born on April 20, 1963, in rural Victoria, Australia, Garsed initially gained significant attention in the guitar community after partnering with fellow guitarist T.J. Helmerich on the album “Q.E.D.” in 1991. The collaboration marked the beginning of a fruitful and innovative partnership, with the duo exploring the frontiers of guitar techniques and sounds.

Garsed's career is marked by his versatility and the high caliber of his technical skill, showcased in his stints with various bands and on numerous instrumental albums. In the early 2000s, Garsed continued his collaborative streak, forming the band Uncle Moe's Space Ranch with TJ Helmerich, Gary Willis, Dennis Chambers, and Scott Kinsey. The band released their self-titled debut album "Uncle Moe's Space Ranch" (2001) and followed up with the sequel "Moe's Town" (2007), both of which demonstrate Brett's tasteful blending of intricate guitar work with complex, funky grooves and improvisational mastery. Outside the sphere of original compositions, Garsed has also shown his affinity for creatively reinterpreting pop classics, as heard in his renditions of Michael Jackson hits "They Don't Care About Us" and "Billie Jean," where he applies his signature guitar prowess to reimagine these iconic tunes. Brett Garsed remains a respected figure in the guitar world, known for his innovative techniques, such as hybrid picking and a smooth legato style, which have influenced a generation of guitarists. His work transcends genre boundaries and continues to inspire with its combination of technical mastery and expressive, melodic sensibility.
