Neuschwanstein

Neuschwanstein was a 1970s German progressive rock band, often considered one of the stalwarts of the symphonic rock genre. Their music was highly influenced by classical motifs and the grand storytelling technique of rock opera, reminiscent of other contemporaries like Genesis and Yes. Named after the famous German castle, Neuschwanstein channeled the romanticism and mystique of its namesake into their compositions, weaving intricate instrumental passages with a certain medieval flair.

The band's most notable album, "Battlement," released in 1978, is a showcase of their dedication to the symphonic style, filled with lush keyboard passages, melodic guitar work, and narrative vocals. Though they initially enjoyed only a cult following, their work has been appreciated more in retrospect, gaining them a place in the pantheon of progressive rock. The legacy of Neuschwanstein was later celebrated with the release of "Alice in Wonderland," along with "Alice in Wonderland (The Instrumental Mixes)," where they retold Lewis Carroll’s classic tale with their signature musical complexity and thematic depth. Despite their relatively short-lived career, the intricate craftsmanship of Neuschwanstein's music has left a lasting impression on the symphonic prog genre.
