Buck Owens was a country music legend known for pioneering the Bakersfield Sound, a raw-edged style of country music that emerged from the honky-tonk bars of Bakersfield, California. Born Alvis Edgar Owens, Jr. in Texas, he moved to Bakersfield in 1951 where he became a regular performer in local clubs. Owens formed his band, Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, in 1963 and went on to have 21 No. 1 country hit singles during the 1960s, including "Act Naturally," "Love's Gonna Live Here," and "I've Got a Tiger by the Tail".
Throughout his career, Owens influenced generations of musicians and became a fixture in American households as co-host of the television variety show "Hee Haw". He was known for his distinctive twangy guitar sound and flashy performance style, often playing a red, white, and blue guitar while wearing rhinestone suits. Owens was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and received numerous awards for his contributions to country music.
