Eagles of Death Metal, often stylized as EODM, are an American rock band that was formed in Palm Desert, California, in 1998. The band was founded by two best friends, Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme, although Homme is often not present for live performances and considers himself more of a studio member. Despite what their name implies, Eagles of Death Metal is not a death metal band. Instead, their style is a lively mix of garage rock, blues rock, and hard rock with elements of desert rock – a genre with which Homme is largely associated due to his other band, Queens of the Stone Age.
Over the years, Eagles of Death Metal have released several albums with their distinct sound and playful energy. They first made waves with their debut album, "Peace, Love, Death Metal," in 2004, which was followed up by a string of successful records like "Death by Sexy" and "Heart On." Fronted by the charismatic 'Boots Electric' himself, Jesse Hughes, the band has become known for their irreverent humor and catchy tunes. In addition to studio success, the band's live performances are known for their raw and engaging rock 'n' roll spirit, as captured in releases like "Eagles of Death Metal (Live in Joshua Tree, CA 2015)." Their recent projects such as "EODM Presents: A Boots Electric Christmas" and contributions to soundtracks like "Blinded By The Light" (from the "Super Troopers 2" soundtrack) showcase the band's versatility and enduring appeal within the rock music scene. Their resilience and strength also came to the fore in the aftermath of the tragic terrorist attack at their 2015 Paris concert, signaling their commitment to the power of music and unity in the face of adversity.
