Jets To Brazil

Jets to Brazil was an American indie rock band formed in 1997, following the break-up of frontman Blake Schwarzenbach's influential punk band Jawbreaker. Schwarzenbach, who took on vocals and guitar duties for Jets to Brazil, was joined by bassist Jeremy Chatelain, previously of the band Handsome, and drummer Chris Daly, a former member of Texas Is The Reason. The trio delivered a sound that departed notably from Schwarzenbach's punk roots, opting instead for more melodic and emotionally intricate compositions that intertwined elements of rock, pop, and indie.

Jets to Brazil made their debut in 1998 with the album "Orange Rhyming Dictionary", a record that won critical acclaim for its poetic lyrics and rich instrumentation, marking a significant evolution in Schwarzenbach's songwriting. They followed up with "Four Cornered Night" in 2000, which saw the band further expanding their sound and incorporating piano-driven ballads that showcased Schwarzenbach's reflective storytelling. Their third and final album, "Perfecting Loneliness" (2002), refined their aesthetic, weaving somber themes of isolation and introspection with the band's characteristic melodic sensibilities. Despite never achieving mainstream success, Jets to Brazil earned a devoted following and left a lasting impact on the indie music scene before disbanding in 2003. Their thoughtful lyrics and genre-blending style continue to resonate with fans and influence new generations of musicians.
