Maximo Park

Maxïmo Park is an English alternative rock band that originated from Newcastle upon Tyne. Formed in 2000, the band currently consists of Paul Smith (vocals), Duncan Lloyd (guitar), and Tom English (drums), after the departure of founding members Archis Tiku (bass guitar) and Lukas Wooller (keyboards) in 2014 and 2018 respectively. Maxïmo Park quickly became known for their energetic shows and Smith's distinctive, regional-accented vocals.

Their debut album, "A Certain Trigger," released in 2005, was critically acclaimed and earned them a Mercury Prize nomination. The band's commitment to crafting incisive, literate lyrics set to sharply constructed indie rock has seen them maintain a passionate fan base throughout their career. With albums like "Our Earthly Pleasures" and "Quicken the Heart" following suit, the band enjoyed steady success, which is evident in their continued work. Their recent releases continue to showcase the band's evolution, with "Nature Always Wins" (2021) being the most recent full-length album, offering a mature take on their signature sound and themes of identity and the state of the world. The live recordings and collaborative tracks like "Merging Into You" with Du Blonde exhibit the group's ability to adapt and experiment while remaining true to the energetic and emotive ethos that has characterized their music for over two decades.
