Sugarcult is an American rock band hailing from Santa Barbara, California, originally formed in 1998. The band's name was inspired by a group of lesbian women who lived across from the lead singer Tim Pagnotta. Sugarcult's lineup consists of Tim Pagnotta as the vocalist and guitarist, Airin Older on bass guitar, Marko DeSantis (also known as Marko 72) on lead guitar, and Kenny Livingston on drums. They surged into the mainstream with their debut album, "Start Static," released in 2001, which featured the hit single "Bouncing Off The Walls." The album resonated with a wide audience, helping to define the pop-punk sound of the early 2000s.
Riding on the success of "Start Static," Sugarcult released subsequent albums "Palm Trees and Power Lines" in 2004 and "Lights Out" in 2006, with the former featuring the single "Memory" that garnered significant radio play. Their energetic and melodic style continued to captivate fans around the world, solidifying their place in the pop-punk scene. They toured extensively, appearing with bands like Green Day and Blink-182, bringing their infectious energy to stages worldwide. As a nod to their enduring legacy, the band celebrated the 20th anniversary of "Start Static" with a special edition release, reaffirming the album's significance in their career and the genre as a whole. Despite a hiatus and the members venturing into various other projects, the legacy of Sugarcult persists, with fans still holding a fondness for their contribution to the era's soundscape.
