Jyväskylä Sinfonia is a renowned Finnish orchestra based in Central Finland, celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2025. Founded in 1955, the orchestra was first municipalized in 1965 and has since operated in various capacities, sometimes as a private company. Currently led by Chief Conductor Lorenzo Passerini, with Okko Kamu serving as the principal guest conductor, Jyväskylä Sinfonia presents over 120 events annually, reaching more than 35,000 listeners. The orchestra is known for its diverse repertoire, from symphony concerts to genre-bending productions, and has collaborated with numerous artists and ensembles.
Recent activities include performing at the Jyväskylä Festival and Mikkeli Music Festival, and they have released several notable albums featuring works by Éric Tanguy, Pekka Kostiainen, and Per Henrik Nordgren. The orchestra is active in both local and national events, working closely with Jyväskylä Opera and other Finnish orchestras. As of 2024, Jyväskylä Sinfonia performs at the new Encore Hall in Paviljonki, part of the City of Jyväskylä's cultural expansion plans.
