Mehmet Can Özer is a Turkish composer born in 1981. He studied composition at Bilkent University in Ankara and later continued his studies in composition and electronic music at the Conservatory in Geneva with Michael Jarrell and Rainer Boesch, as well as in Zurich with Gerald Bennett. Since 2005, Özer has been a lecturer in Ankara. He has won several prizes, and his works have been featured at international festivals. Notably, in 2008, he composed music for Ernst Lubitsch's silent film "The Oyster Princess" (1919). Özer is also known for developing his own software, "Asure," which he uses in his concerts, blending electronic music with traditional instruments.
Özer's recent releases include "Nefes," "Early Electroacoustic Works 2001-2003," "Sonpozisyonlar," "Asure from the North - EP," and "Siyah Kalem Dansı." These works showcase his diverse approach to music, combining electronic elements with traditional composition techniques. His contributions to the music scene include organizing concert series and improvisational performances in Turkey, further highlighting his innovative approach to sound and performance.
