The Jaynetts

The Jaynetts were an American girl group best known for their haunting 1963 hit "Sally Go 'Round the Roses," which became a Top 5 single on the Billboard Hot 100. The song’s dreamlike production and enigmatic lyrics made it a standout during the girl group era of the early 1960s. Based in New York and formed by producer Zell Sanders (also behind The Hearts), The Jaynetts were more of a studio creation than a traditional touring group. In fact, multiple vocalists were involved in the recording sessions, sometimes blurring the lines between group members.

The Jaynetts never managed to replicate the success of their big hit, and their time in the spotlight was brief. Nonetheless, "Sally Go 'Round the Roses" has endured as a cult classic—widely praised for its moody vibe and often cited as an influence by artists across genres. While their history is full of mystery and lineup changes, The Jaynetts left their mark as one of the more intriguing acts from the golden age of girl groups.
