Beat Rhythm Fashion

Beat Rhythm Fashion is a post-punk band from Wellington, New Zealand, formed by brothers Dan and Nino Birch. The band emerged from the transformation of their earlier group, The Mixers, around August 1980. Initially a studio project, Beat Rhythm Fashion contributed two tracks, "None in the Universe" and "Not Necessary," to the 1980 album "Four Stars," which featured other bands from the "Terrace Scene" in Wellington. The band's sound was often compared to The Cure due to its use of flanged guitar sounds, but they maintained a distinct style influenced by global experiences and musical diversity. Over time, Beat Rhythm Fashion developed a full lineup and performed live, gaining recognition in the Wellington music scene. The band has continued to evolve, releasing new music and performing live shows even decades after their initial formation.

In recent years, Beat Rhythm Fashion has reactivated, performing live again and releasing new music, including albums like "Tenterhook." The band's music often explores themes of the human condition and social commentary, reflecting the creative partnership between the Birch brothers.
