Minino Garay

Minino Garay is an Argentine percussionist and drummer known for his eclectic and inventive approach to music, deeply rooted in Argentine popular styles but enriched by influences from jazz, tango, and South American folklore. Since moving to France in the early 1990s, he has built an impressive global career collaborating with notable artists like Mercedes Sosa, Jaime Torres, and Ibrahim Maalouf. He is celebrated for his unique fusion of spoken word and music, particularly in his project "Speaking Tango," where he combines declaimed texts from Argentine songs with jazz and traditional rhythms to create a fresh, poetic sound.

Garay is also recognized for his versatility as a percussionist, mastering various South American instruments such as the cajón and bombo legüero. Over his career, he has released numerous albums, including *Minino Garay y los Tambores del Sur* (1999), *Speaking Tango* (2022), and *Latin Percussionary* (2022, in collaboration with Daniel Díaz). His work often explores cultural intersections and innovative genre blending, making him one of the most vital percussionists of his generation. Today, he continues to perform internationally, balancing his life between France and Argentina while pushing musical boundaries through diverse projects.
