It's A Beautiful Day was a San Francisco-based band that emerged in the late 1960s, known for their cinematic mix of folk, rock, classical, and psychedelic influences. Founded by violinist David LaFlamme and his wife Linda LaFlamme, the group earned a dedicated following for their lush, evocative sound—driven in part by David’s soaring violin work. They hit the scene during the height of the Bay Area’s musical renaissance and became a staple of West Coast rock.
Their self-titled debut album, released in 1969, became a cult favorite, particularly thanks to the ethereal track “White Bird,” which became their signature song. Over the years, the band went through various lineup changes and released a handful of studio and live recordings, including “Marrying Maiden” and “Choice Quality Stuff/Anytime.” Though not as commercially prominent as some of their contemporaries, It's A Beautiful Day left a lasting impression on the psychedelic and progressive rock scenes with their unique style and stirring live performances.
