Go Back to the Zoo was a Dutch rock band that garnered attention in the local and international music scene for their energetic and catchy indie rock tunes. The band was formed in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in 2008 by brothers Cas (vocals/guitar) and Teun Hieltjes (guitar), and their friends Lars Kroon (bass) and Bram Kniest (drums). Their sound was characterized by a straightforward rock approach, combined with infectious melodies and a certain youthful zest, which quickly earned them a dedicated following.
The band's journey began with a bang when their debut single "Beam Me Up" was promptly selected by Nike for a commercial, giving them instant visibility. This success was followed by their debut album, "Benny Blisto," released in 2010, which was a critical and commercial success. Go Back to the Zoo continued to harness their momentum with albums like "Shake A Wave" and catchy singles such as "Head up High" and "Zoo," which showcased their growth in songwriting and musical refinement. Despite their success, the band members decided to pursue new musical projects and officially rebranded as St. Tropez in 2015, marking an end to the Go Back to the Zoo era.
