Arch Enemy

Arch Enemy is a titan of melodic death metal, hailing from Halmstad, Sweden, and known for their ferocious blend of technical virtuosity and catchy melodicism. The band was formed in 1996 by guitarist Michael Amott following his departure from the influential death metal band Carcass. Bringing a fresh sound to the heavy metal scene, Arch Enemy gained prominence for their lethal riffs, thunderous drums, and the use of dual-guitar harmonies which became a hallmark of their style. The blend of melodic leads with a brutal edge attracted a wide range of metal fans.

Originally fronted by Johan Liiva, the band took a transformative turn in 2000 when Angela Gossow took over vocal duties, her guttural growls and fierce stage presence propelling the band to new heights and breaking grounds in the world of extreme metal. With albums like "Wages of Sin" and "Doomsday Machine," Arch Enemy cemented their position in the metal pantheon. In 2014, Alissa White-Gluz took over as the lead vocalist, continuing the band's legacy with her wide vocal range and charismatic performances, with albums such as "War Eternal" and "Will To Power" throwing the band into a new era. Their most recent releases, such as "Deceivers," maintain their status as trendsetters in their genre, treating fans to the distinguished Arch Enemy sound while constantly evolving and refining their craft. Live albums like "As The Stages Burn!" capture the raw energy and technical prowess of their stage performances, especially at metal festivals like Wacken Open Air, where they've solidified their reputation as a must-see live act.
