Leôncio e Leonel were a Brazilian sertanejo duo consisting of brothers Benedito Leonel (Leôncio) and Guido de Souza (Leonel). Leôncio was born on February 11, 1932, in Itajú, São Paulo, while Leonel was born on December 14, 1934, in the same town. The brothers grew up helping their parents on coffee plantations but never gave up their passion for singing and playing viola.
The duo began their professional career in 1955 on Rádio América in São Paulo. They went on to record numerous albums and became well-known figures in Brazilian country music. Their biggest hit was "Casinha de Aço," released in 1956. Leôncio passed away on November 15, 2002, in Bariri, São Paulo, while Leonel continued to work in radio after his brother's death.
