Michel Lysight is a celebrated Belgian-Canadian composer and conductor born in 1958. He initially pursued art history before diving into music at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, where he excelled, winning first prizes in music history, theory, psycho-pedagogy, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, and bassoon. He further honed his skills in conducting under René Defossez and Robert Janssens, earning prestigious awards like the first prize with distinction and the higher diploma. Lysight's compositional style is influenced by prominent figures such as Steve Reich, John Adams, Arvo Pärt, and Henryk Górecki, making him a leading figure in the "Nouvelle musique consonante" movement in Belgium. He has composed over a hundred works, many of which are recorded and widely available.

As an active educator, Lysight teaches at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the Academies of Schaerbeek and Brussels. He regularly gives lectures on contemporary music and has been involved in notable competitions, such as chairing the jury of the Kaufmann European Music Competition. His notable recognitions include the Trophée Fuga in 1997 for his contributions to the national repertoire. Despite his extensive career, specific details about recent releases like "Equinox," "Beryllium," and "Labyrinthes" are not highlighted in available biographical information.
