Michael Oesterle is a contemporary American composer whose music has been described as "lyrical, rhythmically vital, and harmonically rich." Born in 1973, Oesterle studied composition at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Juilliard School. His works have been performed by leading ensembles around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Oesterle has received numerous awards and honors for his music, including the Rome Prize and the Guggenheim Fellowship.
