The Ergs!
**The Ergs!** were a beloved DIY punk trio from New Jersey, active from 2001 to 2008, who mashed up pop-punk hooks, indie rock charm, and hardcore energy with nerdy charisma. The band—Mikey Erg (drums/vocals), Jeff Schroeck (guitar/vocals), and Joe Keller (bass)—built a cult following with their witty lyrics, breakneck live shows, and prolific output, including their 2003 cult classic *dorkrockcorkrod*. Known for splits, EPs, and self-aware anthems, they thrived in the underground scene, blending humor and heart into every riff. Though they disbanded in 2008, their legacy endures, evidenced by 20th-anniversary Steve Albini remixes of tracks like “Pray For Rain” and renewed love for their scrappy, melodic punk spirit. Post-Ergs!, Mikey Erg became a scene staple through solo work and collaborations, but fans still cling to the band’s scrappier-than-thou ethos and earworm-filled catalog.
