Pacho Alonso

Pacho Alonso, born Alfredo Armenteros in Santiago de Cuba (1928–1983), was a powerhouse vocalist who left an indelible mark on Cuban music. Known for his charismatic stage presence and soulful voice, he became a legend in genres like son, guaracha, and bolero. In the 1950s, he formed Los Bocucos, a band that blended traditional Cuban rhythms with fiery brass sections, creating a sound that later influenced salsa and timba. His hits like "Qué casualidad" and "Mi corazón es para ti" made him a household name, celebrated for making people dance while keeping Cuba’s musical roots alive. The recent remastered releases of tracks like "Dímelo con besos" and "Perlas Cubanas" reintroduce his vibrant energy to new generations, preserving his legacy as a pillar of Latin music history.
