Q And Not U

Q and Not U was a post-hardcore band from Washington, D.C., known for their energetic performances and contributions to the evolution of the D.C. punk scene. The band was formed in 1998 by members Chris Richards, Harris Klahr, and John Davis, after their previous bands broke up. They soon became a part of the storied Dischord Records family, the label co-founded by Ian MacKaye and home to Fugazi and Minor Threat among many other influential punk acts.

Q and Not U's music merged the angularity of post-punk with danceable rhythms, creating a unique and infectious sound that resonated with audiences both within and beyond the punk community. Over the course of their existence, they released a series of critically acclaimed albums, beginning with their debut "No Kill No Beep Beep" in 2000, and continuing with "Different Damage" in 2002 and "Power" in 2004. The group was also known for energetic live performances and a relentless touring schedule that helped build a strong following. Despite their success within the indie circuit, Q and Not U disbanded in 2005, but their influence can still be felt in the continuing evolution of post-hardcore and indie music. Their approach to DIY ethics, artistic ambition, and the blending of genres remains a hallmark of their legacy.
