Josie Miles was an American blues singer and guitarist who was active in the 1920s. She was born in 1898 in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and began playing guitar at a young age. She moved to Chicago in the early 1920s and began performing in local clubs. In 1923, she was discovered by Paramount Records and recorded her first songs, "Mad Mama's Blues" and "Chicago Bound Blues." She went on to record over 100 songs for Paramount and other labels, including "Trouble in Mind," "Early One Morning," and "Yellow Dog Blues." Miles was a powerful and influential blues singer, and her recordings are still enjoyed by fans of the genre today.
