Wake Island is a Montreal-based art-punk collective known for blending frenetic energy with cross-cultural narratives. Formed by Lebanese-Armenian and Tunisian members raised in Dubai, the bilingual band mixes post-punk grit with Arabic musical textures and poetic reflections on displacement. Their work – like the driving migration anthem "Born to Leave" and the French/English single "Nouvelle vague" – often grapples with identity in globalized spaces through jagged guitars and trilingual lyrics (Arabic, French, English). Recent experimental releases like "<3 <~je~> 3>" and "خُلق/هُجر (Born to Leave - revisited)" showcase their commitment to reinventing their sound while maintaining a raw, transnational punk spirit.
