Hijack

Hijack is a seminal British hip hop group that emerged from the vibrant scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Known for their hardcore sound and aggressive lyricism, the group carved a distinct niche within the UK's burgeoning rap culture. Made up of a collective of talented individuals including DJs Supreme and Undercover, MCs Kamanchi Sly, Ulysses, Agent Fritz, and Agent Clueso, as well as producer The Music Man, Hijack established a reputation for uncompromising beats and sharp, politically-aware rhymes that reflected the urban reality of their Brixton roots.

The peak of their influence was marked by the release of their only full-length album, "The Horns of Jericho," in 1991, which became a landmark in UK hip hop and has since been celebrated for its complex rhythms and powerful messages. Despite their impactful presence, Hijack's existence in the mainstream was brief, yet the legacy they left is tangible. Pioneering the British interpretation of hardcore rap, tracks such as "Hold No Hostage / Doomsday of Rap" and "Style Wars" still resonate with fans and have been sampled and referenced by newer generations of hip hop artists. After disbanding, their music continued to be celebrated by aficionados of the genre, and they've enjoyed a resurgence in interest with compilations like "Supreme Legacy V1.0," which revisits their classic tracks and reminds the hip hop community of their vital contributions to the UK scene.
