Luz Manríquez is a distinguished pianist born in Santiago de Chile. She studied at the Escuela Moderna de Música under Elena Weiss and later advanced her studies with Edith Fisher in Switzerland and María Iris Radrigán at the Catholic University in Chile. After completing her Master's Degree at Carnegie Mellon University, she joined the faculty as Artist Lecturer in Piano and Chamber Music in 1992, later becoming Associate Teaching Professor in 2004. Manríquez has been a regular guest of the Shadyside Concert Series and the Frick Art Museum Series, and she has performed with various ensembles, including the Nuance Music Ensemble and the Chamber Music Project Ensemble. She has also collaborated on recordings with notable artists like Andrés Cárdenes and has been involved in projects such as the Pittsburgh Jewish Music Festival. Additionally, she serves as Co-Director of Collaborative Piano at Carnegie Mellon University and teaches at the Carnegie Mellon Preparatory School of Music.
Manríquez's discography includes notable works such as *It's Peaceful Here*, *Made in the USA*, and *Stutschewsky: Chamber Music*. Her performances have taken her to venues across the United States, Latin America, and Europe. She is recognized for her sensitivity as a chamber musician and her ability to collaborate effectively with other artists. Manríquez has also given master classes at prestigious institutions like Yonsei University and Korea National University of Arts in Seoul, Korea. Her contributions to music education are further highlighted by her role in inaugurating the CMU Collaborative Piano Festival in Bogotá, Colombia.
