The New Radicals were an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles in the late 1990s, led by frontman Gregg Alexander. They're best known for their 1998 hit single “You Get What You Give,” which became a global anthem thanks to its uplifting message and catchy chorus. The song appeared on their only album, Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too, which blended pop-rock with soulful and socially conscious lyrics.
Despite their success, the band was short-lived—Alexander disbanded the group in 1999, citing his dislike of fame and the pressures of promotion. Though their time in the spotlight was brief, the New Radicals left a lasting mark on late-‘90s pop-rock. Their music has experienced resurgences in popularity over the years and continues to influence artists today. Gregg Alexander has since worked behind the scenes, writing and producing for other major artists.
