Jacob Chung

Jacob Chung is a talented jazz saxophonist originally from Toronto, who relocated to New York City in 2022 to study with the renowned Vincent Herring. His mentorship helped launch Chung’s recording career, notably leading to his critically acclaimed sophomore album, *The Sage* (2024), released on the Cellar Music Group label. Praised for its embodiment of jazz spirit and sophisticated post-bop style, *The Sage* showcases his strong compositional skills and features collaborations with veteran musicians like Herring and drummer Joe Farnsworth. Jacob is recognized as a rising star with a dynamic, blues-rooted commitment to swing, regularly performing at top NYC jazz venues such as Smalls, Dizzy’s Club, and The Django.

Since moving to NYC, Jacob has expanded his musical network under the guidance of mentors like Grant Stewart, and has performed with notable artists including Ken Peplowski, the John Pizzarelli Big Band, and the Mingus Big Band. His debut album *Epistle* (2022) received critical praise for its fresh yet historically grounded jazz
