Zé do Baião

Zé do Baião, born José Lourenço da Silva, was a Brazilian accordionist, singer, and composer who played a pivotal role in popularizing the forró genre. Born in 1915 in Exu, Pernambuco, Zé do Baião began playing the accordion at a young age and quickly gained recognition for his virtuosic skills. His music, characterized by its infectious rhythms and heartfelt lyrics, celebrated the traditions and culture of northeastern Brazil. Zé do Baião's iconic song "Baião" became a national anthem, and his influence continues to shape Brazilian music today.
