Mono Banegas

Cristian “Mono” Banegas, born on September 26, 1974, in Santiago del Estero, Argentina, is a renowned bassist, arranger, and music producer whose work is deeply rooted in the ancestral sounds of his province. He is known for blending traditional folk rhythms like Chaya and styles from the Chaco and Salta regions with modern bass techniques, creating a unique sonic perspective that honors his cultural heritage. As a composer, Mono Banegas explores new textures and mystical soundscapes inspired by his native land, contributing richly to the Argentine folk tradition.

Over his career, Banegas has performed at numerous festivals and venues across Argentina and internationally—including Uruguay, Cuba, Venezuela, Belgium, England, and Spain. He has also been a sought-after session musician and producer, collaborating with influential artists such as Horacio Banegas, Jorge Rojas, Raly Barrionuevo, and Orellana Lucca. His acclaimed album *Reminiscencia* earned him the Premio Gardel for Best Folk Male Artist. More recently, he participated in Depedro’s project *Cruce de Caminos*, contributing to the track “La Gloria” alongside Orellana Lucca and Martin Bruhn.
