Aria

Aria (Ария) is one of the seminal acts in the history of Russian heavy metal. Formed in 1985 in Moscow by guitarist Sergey Mavrin and vocalist Valery Kipelov, Aria's fondness for traditional heavy metal with a classical bent, along the lines of bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, has distinguished them within the Russian music scene. Strong melodic hooks, driven guitar riffs, and fantasy and mythology-inspired lyrics are a staple of their music.

Over the years, Aria has undergone numerous lineup changes, but the band has consistently revolved around the leadership of bassist and chief lyricist Vitaly Dubinin and guitarist Vladimir Holstinin, who are the mainstay members and are often seen as the soul of the band. Their discography spans over three decades, with "Армагеддон (Перезагрузка)" and "Крещение огнём (Перезагрузка)," illustrating their commitment to revisiting and revitalizing previous works while pushing the genre forward. Aria has achieved legendary status, not only in their home country but also internationally, drawing in audiences with their captivating live performances, memorably evident in releases like "Гость из царства теней (Live)." Despite the language barrier, their energy and musical prowess have transcended beyond Russian-speaking audiences, affording them a place of reverence in the global metal community.
