Retrofoguetes

Retrofoguetes is a Brazilian instrumental band formed in 2002 in Salvador, Bahia. The group emerged from the dissolution of the psychobilly band Dead Billies and originally consisted of Rex on drums, Julio Moreno on guitar, and Fábio Rocha on bass. Over the years, the band has experienced lineup changes, with notable members contributing to their distinctive sound. Known for their virtuosic and conceptual approach to music, Retrofoguetes have performed at major festivals around Brazil, contributing to their reputation as one of the country's most influential instrumental groups on the independent scene.

Their music often blends elements of surf and rockabilly, as seen in projects like *O Maravilhoso Natal dos Retrofoguetes*, which reimagines classic Christmas songs with a surf/rockabilly twist. The band has released several albums, including *Ativar Retrofoguetes!* (2003), *Chachachá* (2009), and *Enigmascope: Volume 1* (2016). *Chachachá* was recognized as one of the best national albums of the year by Rolling Stone Brasil. In 2022, they released *A Nova Onda Hipnótica dos Retrofoguetes*, further showcasing their innovative style.
