Mark Foggo is a dynamic English-born ska musician known for his high-energy performances and unique blend of modern, up-tempo ska. Born in Liverpool, Foggo began his musical journey at the age of fourteen, initially inspired by British rhythm and blues groups like The Animals. He moved to London and later Amsterdam, where he became a key figure in Europe's post-2-Tone ska scene. In 1987, Foggo formed his most notable band, Mark Foggo's Skasters, which gained significant popularity with their 1989 album *Ska Pig*. This album is often cited as a classic in the ska genre. Over the years, Foggo has released numerous albums and singles, including *Speeding My Life Away*, *A State of Mind*, and *Mad*. He is also known for founding his own record label, Skanky'Lil Music, which supports emerging ska bands.
Foggo's music is characterized by its observational and darkly comic lyrics, as well as his boisterous stage presence. He continues to tour extensively across Europe, maintaining a strong following on the club circuit. In addition to his work with the Skasters, Foggo has a side project called The Babyshakers, which blends ska with rock and roll and rockabilly. His dedication to ska has earned him the nickname "the hardest working man in ska."
