Kaj Klein

Kaj Klein was a renowned musician from the Faroe Islands, celebrated for his contributions to the local rock scene. His career began with the band Plastnoist, which he co-founded with his brother Karl Anton Klein. They released several critically acclaimed albums, including ‘Ypp Bara Øxl’ (1995) and ‘21’ (1999), inspiring a new generation of hard rock musicians in the Faroes. Klein also had a successful solo career, with notable albums such as ‘Skot’ (1986), ‘Hálvt frá hálsi’ (2005), ‘Úr Maskinrúminum’ (2007), and ‘Í andglettinum’ (2012). His work often featured collaborations with talented musicians and poets, most notably the award-winning Faroese poet Tóroddur Poulsen. His final album, ‘Síðsta Kvøldmáltíðin’, was released posthumously in 2020, featuring a collaboration with Faroese progressive rockers Bendar Spónir.

Kaj Klein was widely respected as a musician's musician, known for bringing together diverse talents across generations and genres. His use of the Faroese language added a unique depth to his music, making him a beloved figure in Faroese music culture. Klein passed away on August 27, 2019, leaving behind a legacy of creative innovation and a lasting impact on the music scene in the Faroe Islands.
