**พร ภิรมย์** (Prai Piriyaphun), originally named บุญสม มีสมวงษ์ (Boonsom Meesomwong), was a renowned Thai singer and songwriter. Born on November 29, 1934, in Ayutthaya, Thailand, he was known for his distinctive use of traditional Thai music as a foundation for his songs. His compositions often featured narratives with moral lessons, employing unique vocal techniques known as "เพลงแหล่" (a style of improvisational singing). Some of his most celebrated works include "ดาวลูกไก่" (Daw Luk Gai), "บัวตูมบัวบาน" (Buathum Buaban), and "น้ำตาลาไทร" (Nam Thala Thai). Throughout his career, he recorded over 200 songs, with the majority being self-composed, and received several prestigious awards, including multiple Golden Disk Awards.
tarde in his life, Prai Piriyaphun dedicated himself to Buddhism and was ordained as a monk under the name "ปุญญวังโสภิกขุ" (Punyawangsophikkhu). He passed away on December 5, 2010. His legacy continues to be celebrated in Thai music culture, marking him as a prominent figure in the artistic heritage of Thailand.
