Kid Congo Powers is a legendary guitarist and singer whose gritty, genre-blurring style has made him a cult icon in the world of garage rock, punk, and psychobilly. Born Brian Tristan, he first gained attention as a founding member of The Gun Club, bringing a swampy, blues-soaked sound to the punk scene in the early '80s. Powers went on to join the influential bands The Cramps and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, where his distinctive guitar work added a spooky, raw edge to their already intense music.
Beyond his work with these genre-defying groups, Kid Congo has enjoyed a prolific solo career with his band The Pink Monkey Birds, mixing rock and roll, surf, and Latin influences into a wild, hypnotic sound that's all his own. Known for his flamboyant style and deep sense of musical storytelling, Kid Congo continues to tour and release boundary-pushing albums that pay homage to his roots while exploring new sonic territory.
