Conation

Conation was a hardcore band from Newcastle, Australia, active from around 1997 to early 2006. Their music blended elements of power-violence, grind-core, hardcore, emo, and melodic influences, uniquely featuring a violin played by Genna Pyewacket. During their career, they released one full-length album, "The Dichotomy Of Earth And The Human Race" in 2001, along with several split releases and EPs, including "Troubled Waters And Fortresses" in 2003. The band's lineup included Jamie Hay on vocals and guitar, Dale Townsend on bass and vocals, Murray Ruse on drums, and Genna Pyewacket on violin and vocals.

After disbanding, there were plans for a posthumous release and a tour in 2008. Notably, Murray Ruse later joined the Australian punk rock band Hard-Ons as their drummer in 2011. Despite their relatively short active period, Conation left a mark on the Australian hardcore scene with their distinctive sound and energetic performances.
