Rebecca Downes

Rebecca Downes is a British blues rock singer, guitarist, and songwriter from Wolverhampton. She began performing live at age 13 and started writing her own material as a teenager. Teaming up in 2011 with co-songwriter Steve Birkett, she developed a signature sound rooted in blues but exploring various musical directions. Rebecca has released multiple albums on her independent label Mad Hat Records, including *Back To The Start* (2013), *More Sinner Than Saint* (2019), and her most recent *A Storm Is Coming* (2025) featuring singles like "These Days" and "Falling Into You." She’s known for her strong vocals and compelling songwriting, earning accolades such as Female Vocalist of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2016 British Blues Awards.

In addition to her work as a performer, Rebecca is an experienced vocal coach and lecturer based in Birmingham. Her live shows feature a tight five-piece band, with a mix of original songs and blues classics. She has supported acts like King King, Dr Feelgood, and Paul Carrack, building a dedicated following through a strategic balance of festival appearances and club gigs. Rebecca continues to push blues rock forward with passion and integrity, while nurturing the next generation of singers through teaching and mentorship.
