American Authors is an indie rock band based in New York City that burst onto the music scene with their buoyant, anthemic single "Best Day of My Life" in 2013. Comprised of Zachary Barnett (lead vocals, guitar), James Adam Shelley (lead guitar, banjo), Dave Rublin (bass), and Matt Sanchez (drums), the quartet met while attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston before relocating to Brooklyn to pursue their musical ambitions.
Renowned for their upbeat, heartening sound that fuses rock, pop, and folk influences, American Authors has carved out a niche for bright, infectious melodies coupled with hopeful, earnest lyricism. After their initial breakthrough, they continued to build their reputation with a string of hits and infectious tunes, showcasing their knack for crafting radio-ready choruses and feel-good music. Despite changes in the music industry, the band has maintained a steady pace, offering a diverse range of singles that capture their versatile style. From the breezy nostalgia of "Island In The Sun" to the rollicking holiday cheer of "Sleigh Ride" and "Christmas Karaoke," they've shown a playful adaptation of their sound to various themes and occasions. Tunes like "Come Home to Me" and "Sweet Caroline" continue to reflect the band's penchant for creating emotionally resonant tracks that resonate with a broad audience, solidifying their place in the contemporary music landscape.
