Pt. Shivkumar Sharma

Pt. Shivkumar Sharma was a legendary Indian classical musician who revolutionized the santoor, a folk instrument from Kashmir. Born in 1938, he's credited with adapting the santoor for Indian classical music and bringing it to the global stage. Sharma's career spanned decades, during which he released numerous albums and collaborated with other renowned musicians like Hariprasad Chaurasia.

As part of the duo Shiv-Hari, Sharma composed music for several hit Bollywood films in the 1980s and 1990s. His contributions to Indian music were recognized with prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri in 1991 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2001. Sharma passed away in 2022, leaving behind a rich legacy in the world of Indian classical music.
