Acid King

Acid King is a San Francisco-based band that has been a significant force in the stoner rock and doom metal scene since their formation in 1993. The band was founded by frontwoman Lori S., drummer Joey Osbourne, and bassist Peter Lucas with a clear mission to create a sound infused with the heavy, slow-moving spirit of bands like Black Sabbath, but also suffused with a unique, psychedelic haze. Named after notorious criminal Ricky Kasso, nicknamed the Acid King, the band's music is characterized by grinding guitar riffs, sludgy rhythms, and Lori's distinctive lethargic vocals that weave through the fuzzed-out sonic landscape they create.

Throughout their career, Acid King has maintained a cult-like following in the stoner rock community, celebrated for their mesmerizing live performances and consistently high-quality releases. Notably, their third album "Zoroaster" solidified their reputation for crafting monstrously heavy sounds, while their 2015 offering, "Middle of Nowhere, Center of Everywhere," marked a triumphant return after a decade-long recording hiatus, delighting fans with its hypnotic rhythms and sticky, molasses-thick guitar work. The band’s ethos is perfectly captured in their most recent work, "Beyond Vision," which showcases their ability to evolve while staying true to the hallmarks of their genre. With a career spanning over two decades, Acid King continues to reign as one of the pioneering bands in the stoner and doom metal genres, earning a hallowed place amongst their peers and a legion of devoted followers.
