Caroline Dale

Caroline Dale is a highly accomplished British cellist known for her versatility across classical and contemporary music. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and with the legendary Pierre Fournier in Geneva, becoming the youngest ever recipient of the Isserlis Scholarship at 15. Caroline has performed as principal cellist with prestigious ensembles like the English Chamber Orchestra and the London Chamber Orchestra, and has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras including the London Philharmonic and Royal Philharmonic.

Beyond classical music, Caroline has an extensive career working with pop and rock artists such as U2, Sinéad O’Connor, David Gray, and Joan Armatrading, contributing not only as a cellist but also as a string arranger. She played the cello for notable film soundtracks like *Hilary and Jackie* and *Atonement*, the latter inspiring a suite dedicated to her by composer Dario Marianelli. In 1995, she founded the group Ghostland, which blended classical and contemporary styles, and released her solo album *Such Sweet Thunder* in 2003, showcasing her talent as both performer and composer.
