The Colour is a band that formed in 2002 when its members met as students at Biola University in the Los Angeles suburbs. Initially, the band consisted of singer Wyatt Hull, lead guitarist Luke MacMaster, rhythm guitarist Davey Quon, and drummer Nathan Warkentin, with Derek Van Heule later joining as the permanent bassist. They started out with a new wave revival sound, releasing the single "Mirror Ball" and the EP "Out and About with the Colour." However, after these releases failed to gain traction, the band shifted their style to a '70s-inspired boogie sound. They signed with the Rethink imprint of EMI and released the EP "Devil's Got a Holda Me" in 2006, followed by their full-length debut "Between Earth and Sky" later that year. The band members eventually went their separate ways, with Wyatt Hull moving on to front the band Cheetahsaurus, while the others formed We Barbarians.
Some of their notable releases include "Save Yourself (Chris Lord-Alge Mix)" and "Devil’s Got A Holda Me (A Prelude To Between Earth And Sky)," which reflect their evolving musical style.
