Obsidian Tongue

Obsidian Tongue is an American black metal band founded in 2009 by Brendan James Hayter, who handles vocals and guitars. Initially a solo project, it evolved into a duo with the addition of a drummer, first Greg Murphy and later Raymond "Ray" Capizzo. The band's music is characterized by its atmospheric and emotive qualities, often drawing comparisons to the Cascadian black metal scene. Obsidian Tongue aims to create emotionally rich and melodically complex extreme metal, reflecting themes of personal struggle and catharsis. Their discography includes notable releases such as "Volume I: Subradiant Architecture," "A Nest of Ravens in the Throat of Time," and more recently, "Volume III" and "The Stone Heart EP."

The band's name, Obsidian Tongue, symbolizes the use of music as a form of deep emotional communication, with obsidian representing the absorption of negative energies. This concept aligns with the band's goal of creating music that helps both the creators and listeners release negativity. Over the years, Obsidian Tongue has maintained a consistent focus on crafting intense, atmospheric soundscapes that resonate with fans of black metal and beyond.
