Dino Olivieri

Dino Olivieri (1905-1963) was an Italian composer of light music and a conductor, best known for penning the melody to the 1936 hit "Tornerai" (with lyrics by Nino Rastelli), which later became the iconic French wartime anthem "J'attendrai." Born on December 5, 1905, in Senigallia, Italy, he made his mark in the classical and opera world, working on vocal recitals and recordings with legends like Beniamino Gigli, Tito Schipa, and Giuseppe di Stefano, including producing sessions like Maria Callas' Cavalleria Rusticana in 1953.

Olivieri's tunes blended operatic flair with lighter fare—he was comfy in operetta and brought real heart to songs like "'O Sole Mio" compilations—passing away in Milan in 1963 after a career that lit up stages and records across Europe.
