Grand Duchy

Grand Duchy is the dynamic indie rock/electronic duo formed in 2007 by Pixies frontman Frank Black (Black Francis) and his then-wife Violet Clark. This husband-and-wife team blended Frank's signature alt-rock sensibilities with Violet's synth-pop influences, creating a sound that's equal parts gritty guitar work and danceable electronic beats. Their debut album *Petits Fours* (2009) introduced their "romantic terror" aesthetic, followed by 2011's politically charged *Let the People Speak*, which includes the fan favorite "White Out." Known for their creative tension and married-couple chemistry, they toured with acts like The Breeders while maintaining a DIY spirit that kept their music raw and experimental.
